Events in Central Ohio – December 2012

Whether you’re new to Central Ohio, just visiting, or a long-time resident looking for a fun way to spend your holidays, there are plenty of upcoming events in the area. With a wide range of events, from art, to music, to sports, and holiday-themed events, you’re sure to find something you love!

Here are a few Events in Central Ohio…

Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium: runs from November 16 – January 1, and is open to all ages! This is a great way to spend an evening with friends or family as you journey through the winter wonderland and light show right here in Columbus

The Gateway Film Center will be hosting its third annual Holiday Classics film series from November 21 – December 26. The film center is located on the south end of Ohio State’s Campus, and is close to food, ice cream, and downtown.

Shadowbox Live, located at Easton Town Center is showing Scrooge! on select Saturdays and Sundays November 25 – December 30. The show will retell the classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge in a new and exciting way! Best for 18 and up.

On December 1, Columbus will have its Grand Illumination in which downtown is illuminated from the Scioto Mile Promenade all the way to Bicentennial Park. This year, the display will feature over 200,000 lights and projections of seasonal imagery onto the Scioto Mile Foundation. Additionally, you can grab some hot chocolate or coffee and a warm dinner at Milestone 229 during your walk along the beautifully lit downtown area. Visit for more information!

The Clintonville Woman’s Club will continue to host the Big Band Jazz with Vaugh Wiester’s Famous Jazz Orchestra through December 17. The orchestra is composed of 21 of the finest musicians in central Ohio who play every Monday from 7:30pm – 10:30pm at 3951 North High Street in Columbus, just north of the Park of Roses. Cost for admission is $1o for adults and $5 for students. The events are BYOB and there are snack vendors set up at the event. You can learn more about the orchestra at this website:
